Dr. Dan Matyasovszky - Veterinarian
Dr. Matyasovszky graduated from Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1997. He practiced in Southwestern Ontario for 3 years, and 1 year in Manitoba before returning to his home town of Thunder Bay to start his practice on his family farm in the Slate River Valley in 2001. Dr. Matyasovszky is known for his hard working nature. Dr. Matyasovszky is a mixed animal practitioner, and is a 4th generation cattle farmer on his family farm with his wife and son. Dr. Dan has numerous pets at home including dogs, cats, horses and cattle. When not working, Dr. Dan strives to improve his farm, and his favorite time is spent with is family, and working with his cows, and watching NBA basketball. His favorite team is the Toronto Raptors.


Dr. Matthew Yerxa - Veterinarian

Dr. Yerxa hails from Keswick Ridge, New Brunswick where he worked on various dairy farms and at his family's provincial meat plant. He attended the University of New Brunswick where he was enrolled in a chemistry program. During that thime, he was an active 4-H member, participating in the dairy project. While spending time in 4-H and at the Royal, he realized that he would enjoy veterinary medicine and was accepted into the program at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, P.E.I. He graduated in May 2006, and worked primary with small animals in a mixed practice in Innisfail, Alberta until February 2008. Howver, his passion for dairy production medicine as well as the opportunity to work with equine clientele and small animal patients made Slate River Veterinary Services his choice for a practice to work in. Dr. Matt and his wife have a small beef herd , horses, and their dog named Amos.

Dr. Chrisine Moebus - Veterinarian

Dr. Christine is a Ontario Veterinary College graduate of the class of 2010. She is a multi species veterinarian and started with the practice when she graduated. Dr. Christine hails from Lavigne, Ontario (Sudbury area). Dr. Christine grew up on a small hobby farm where she worked with various species including goasts, rabbits, chickens, turkeys and ducks. She always wanted to be a multi species veterinarian and work in rural Northern Ontario. She is enjoying rural life and along with her husband have 2 horses, (a 17 year old standardbred named Mario, a 10 year old Belgian named Zeus as well as their beagle, Annie.                                                      

Kelly - Practice Manager/Veterinary Technician

Kelly is an import from Southern Ontario, and began working at a rural practice in Southwestern Ontario in 1998. She started in reception, and went on to work as an assistant and eventually began working in the office. Kelly enjoys all aspects of the practice, but particularily enjoys surgery. She has 3 dogs at home-- 2 Australian Cattle Dogs-- a blue and a spicy red, Kia and Willy, and a one eyed rescued Basset Hound named "Willy". She also has a husky orange cat (think Garfield) affectionately named "Mr. Pumpkin" and a tabby cat named "McLovin". She also has lots of barn cats, cattle and 2 horses, "Audi" and "Glory". Kelly started at the practice at the beginning in 2001. When not working, Kelly enjoys photography and spending time with her husband and son on their farm.




Brandi - Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant

Brandi began at SRVS in Fall 2007. Brandi comes to us having completed some time at Red River College in Manitoba and has worked in veterinary practices at different levels for the last 6 years. Brandi is an animal lover at heart and has rescued animals to add to her family. She has 3 cats named "Monster", "Robster', and "Borris:.  She is very enthusiastic and loves all aspects of clinical life including being involved in complex surgeries and assisting clients.  Being a Veterinary Technician has always been her dream.

Trista - Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist

Trista  began with SRVS in summer  of 2008. Trista has lived in the Thunder Bay area all of her life. She has 2 "Pasture Ornaments," a Palomino named, , Pal, and a Paint named Echo. She has 3 cats, 1 indoor senior citizen named Kalli, and 2 barn boys, Mac and Ruaidhrí (pronounced Rory.) She enjoys all aspects of the clinic, especially getting to know all of the dairy farmers and the large animal side of the practice.


Chelsea - Receptionist

Chelsea is our full time receptionist and started with us in the winter of 2010. Chelsea is full of life and loves being around animals and assisting their owners. Chelsea has an adorable 2 year old Shih Tzu called “Ellie Mae”—She is a spoiled princess!

Jayan - Receptionist

Jayan is the newest member of our veterinary family and started with us spring of 2010. She applied with us as her love of animals and desire to become a technician brought her in the direction of pursuing a veterinary career. Jayan has a 2 year old Domestic long haired cat named Kali, who is very mischievous! She also has a Black Lab/Beagle cross named Vinter who is her whole world!
